Welcome to the 13th International Workshop on Infrared Microscopy and Spectroscopy with Accelerator-Based Sources (WIRMS 2026)! It will be held in beautiful Monterey, California and is organized by the Advanced Light Source in Berkeley, California. This workshop brings together researchers from all over the world, including experts in various disciplines such as developments in accelerator-based sources, IR spectromicroscopy and nano-resolved imaging, vibrational spectroscopy at extreme conditions, Free Electron Laser (FEL) and IR/THz sources and synchrotron beamlines, recent infrared sources and detectors developments, in situ and operando chemical analysis, and more.
The WIRMS series of international workshops began in 2001 in Porquerolles, France, and then continued in 2003 at Lake Tahoe, California, in 2005 in Rathen, Germany, and 2007 in Awaji Island, Japan. In 2009 WIRMS was held in Banff, Canada, then in Trieste, Italy in 2011, followed by Melbourne, Australia in 2013. In 2015 it moved to Long Island, New York, in 2017 it was held in Oxford, Great Brittan, and in 2019 WIRMS went to South America and was held in Ubatuba, Brazil. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, WIRMS restarted in 2022 in Hiroshima, Japan, followed by Barcelona, Spain in 2024. We're delighted to now host the 13th WIRMS back in California for the first time in 23 years.
We extend a warm invitation to you to participate in this stimulating event. Expect to engage with infrared scientists from around the globe, including staff and users from synchrotron and FEL IR beamlines. WIRMS 2026 is set to be an exceptional meeting in a beautiful location, providing a unique platform for knowledge exchange and networking.
Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of this enriching experience, contributing to the development of accelerator-based infrared sources and spectroscopic research. We look forward to welcoming you to WIRMS 2026 in Monterey!
